Before you start
Everything on the duplicate moves to the record you keep. The duplicate is archived, not deleted, and notes that it was merged.
- Open one of the two customers and choose Merge with another customer. On a phone it's under More.
- In The other customer, search for the duplicate by name, number, address or postcode.
- Under Which record to keep, choose which one stays. It keeps the earlier customer number, and its own name, email and settings.
- Check what moves, such as properties, visits, invoices and payments, then choose Merge into and the name.
What happens next
The record you kept opens, with everything from both. The other record shows Merged into another record, with a link to this one.
If something goes wrong
- “Both customers have a Direct Debit set up. Cancel the one you don't need, then merge them.”
- “An archived customer can't be merged. Restore them first.”
- “A customer who was erased or moved to another business can't be merged.”
- “One of them is waiting to move to another business. Cancel that first.”
